Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday announced that the state government has decided to declare a restricted holiday on November 25 (Tuesday) to mark the occasion of the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur.
Gupta has said that the holiday will offer all the citizens an opportunity to pay homage to the revered Sikh Guru’s unparalleled sacrifice, his spiritual guidance, and unwavering commitment to the protection of humanity.

She stated that the restricted holiday is not a mere formality, but a heartfelt tribute from the Delhi government to Guru Sahib’s extraordinary sacrifice.
The CM appealed to all citizens to observe this day with reverence, unity and a spirit of service, and to imbibe his teachings in their daily lives.
Gupta has said that Guru Tegh Bahadur’s life stands as a timeless and powerful symbol of resistance against tyranny, religious intolerance and injustice, adding that he was not just a revered Guru of the Sikhs, but also a guardian of humanity.
By laying down his life, he defended India’s religious freedom and affirmed that truth and righteousness must be upheld, whatever the cost, she added.
Gupta noted that Guru Sahib’s supreme sacrifice represents an immortal chapter in history, reminding us that defending people, their freedom and dignity is the true essence of humanity.
Gupta said that his message of courage, compassion, tolerance, brotherhood and respect for all faiths remains as relevant today, as it was three centuries ago.
Reflecting on Guru Tegh Bahadur’s life and legacy, CM has said that his teachings will continue to inspire the creation of a peaceful and inclusive society.
